Like most consumers, my vehicle is this "black box" when it comes to troubleshooting and repairs. I appreciate James' evaluations of the situation and his non - "Life or Death" high pressure sales attempts for other repairs that I have encountered at your competitors' shops. James gives reliable honest service and I have never doubted his judgment. He was able to complete all the necessary repairs within 3.5 hours and for $60 less that your competitor. I wanted to write and let you know how much I appreciated the service that I received from George Lee, the manager at your Gastonia office. I wanted to make sure that I wasnt being taken advantage of by the Toyota dealership, so I called him to ask his opinion on a matter regarding my converter. He offered to check my vehicle out and give me his opinion on the part, which he did for me at no cost. He went out of his way and took time to talk to me about the issue, and it meant a lot to me. There should be more people like him in this world. I will definitely keep Meineke in mind for any future problems and will gladly tell people how courteous Mr. Lee was with me.

The customer service at store #312 is OUTSTANDING! The manager there seems to be a very geniune person when it comes to "putting the customer first". The quality of work is nothing short of excellent. Having just moved to the area from Maryland, it is a pleasure knowing that someone like Mr. Rhett takes a personal interest in making sure that when you leave the car care center, you have received quality care. As a Federal Police Officer, I come in contact with alot of people. I brought my car in with aftermarket-exhaust system clamped together and wanted to get it welded on and vibrating metal stopped from making noise. David, the head mechanic there, kept me informed on my vehicle's progress and best of all; when I left there on Tuesday, there was still some peice of pipe vibrating, I called and they told me to just bring it by anytime the next day. I did and David immediately put it back up on the lift and fixed the problem for free. This was expected, but he easily could've tried to charge me extra for this. I thank him very much for his hard work and kindness. I hope this gets to him and he is rewarded in some way. Meineke Shop in Roanoke VA did their best in an attempt to have another center to honor the muffler warranty on my son's car. Meineke called the warranty center and gave them the date and invoice number for the service and offered to fax them a copy of the invoice. But, the warranty center still refused to honor the warranty. After that Meineke told us that they would order the parts for my son's car and when he returned to the University, they would replace the muffler. Thank You for your service. Richard

The front brakes on my Montero were pulsing which had a distinct impact on stopping ability. I called the Meineke shop on North Tryon where I had had work completed earlier. The service mgr told me to bring it in and they would look at it. As in most places in Charlotte it is hurry up and wait, not so with the Tryon team. I was greeted and my truck was immediately taken into the bay and inspected. They not only checked the front brakes but all around. It was determined that the front rotors were the problem and they were quickly ordered and replaced. All this in about two hours time. Not only did the mechanic test drive after completion, he wanted me to take it out with him to insure that I was satisfied with the job, which BTW was perfect. The repairs were completed in record time, very professionally and very courteously. I was very impressed with the Tryon Team both the Sevice mgr and mechanic (sorry I didn't get their names)were very knowledgable and provided excellent service at a fair price. Hello Meineke ! Thanks so much for the great customer service from Jeremy McCoy at store 1134...My A/C ran hot suddenly, he spent some time testing it, and discovered it needed a new entire unit...He let me know my options, and offered his price... In the end , his price was great, yet I discovered my car was still under warranty with the dealer... None the less, Mr. McCoy's efforts made me feel great about doing business in Rock Hill, and especially at his shop... I believe in writing about good service as much I believe in writing about bad. Today, the letter is very good. I went to Center # 1070 on September 4th thinking that after 40k miles that my front break pads would need replacing. Damien was the Meineke representative that assured me any such repair would be a waste of my money. So while I only walked away paying for a standard oil change, Meineke can be assured that I will return with future auto needs. Furthermore, the bathroom was the cleanest I have ever seen at a garage. All around, a very positive experience. Thank you. -Matthew

Having had to take the day off work, partially due to car issues, I went to two auto service places. At both places, after more than 15 minutes, no one even acknowledged my presence. All I wanted was for someone to say, "Be with you as soon as we can." I went to the Meineke in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Lyle Blvd. Everyone was out in the shop working on a car. Dave, the manager, immediately wiped off his hands and came in to offer his services. I told him my problem. He asked his guys to all pitch in with him and said I'd could be out in under 15 minutes if they all worked together. Everyone was so nice and so helpful. I moved here from Ohio and have been looking for a place to have my car taken care of for both regular maintainence and repairs. Because of the wonderful attitude, the helpfulness, etc., of David and his people, I have found the place. I know several people who have moved down here (Rock Hill) from the north like me. We are all looking for a GOOD place to have our car work done. I intend to tell others about David at Meineke. As you are well aware, it's your employees who make or break Meineke's reputation - David makes yours. I am writing two other letters today to the other two places where I stopped. To them I will say, "Your employees have broken your reputation." Kudos to David and to Meineke for hiring him.

We would like to commend Mr. J. J. Dorado for a job well done. Our daughter, Rachel Kirk, is a student at ETSU in Johnson City, TN. She called late Saturday afternoon to tell us her car had "died". Being approximately 125 miles and 2 hours away made it a difficult situation to deal with. We've had Rachel's car serviced at a Meineke in Knoxville, TN and pleased with the service. We looked on the Internet, found a location in Johnson City and called to have them recommend a towing service since we had no idea who to call. J. J. Dorado recommened someone and we had the car towed to his shop after hours on Saturday, March 13th. J. J. started working on Rachel's car Monday and she picked it up Tuesday afternoon. While trying to handle this from so far away, we had to call the shop several times with questions. J. J. answered right away or returned our calls promptly and was always patient and listened to our concerns. He kept us informed regarding the repair needed on Rachel's car. He was very helpful from start to finish and we wanted you to know of the "excellent" customer service he gave. Us being so far away and our daughter being a college student could have made us prime candidates to be taken advantage of. However, Mr. Dorado did not and we wanted you to know how well he took care of our situation. We appreciate all he did for us and our daughter, Rachel.

We were on our way to Myrtle Beach (on Saturday at 11:30) for a week of vacation when the car overheated and lost most of its power. We managed to get off the highway and into a Walmart parking lot before the car completely died. A tow truck took us to a Goodyear shop. The Goodyear guy said they couldn't even look at the car that day and at the earliest would have it fixed on Tuesday. Next door was a Meineke shop where a gentleman was looking at the car in minutes so we could at least have an idea of what was wrong. They were busy with people coming and going, phone calls and people in the waiting room. However they said that if they could find the part (pump and power steering pump) they could probably find a way to have it installed that day. WE went to lunch and did a little shopping. We returned in three hours to see if they could tell us how long and they were already done!! We were so pleased to be able to get on our way again. I think being stuck on the side of a highway in an unknown place is a travellers nightmare. It is the perfect opportunity for people to take advantage of your situation. We feel that the staff at that particular Meineke treated us very well. They were very friendly (even giving us better written directions than we had), sympathetic to our situation, and willing to get us back on the road as quickly as possible. We wanted you to know that the staff there were excellent and saved our vacation as far as we are concerned. It is good to know that there are good guys out there.

They do not cut corners. Such attention to detail demonstrates, visibly, how much they value their customers. They put their words into actions. Such actions lead to trust. If they take care of the little things, such as the comfort of their customers, they will also take care of the big things, such as doing the work, right, on a person's car. I would like to commend the owner and staff at the meineke located on washington road in martinez ga. store #741. It all began with a simple end piece for my tailpipe. Roy discussed with me the cost and the process of this piece. He pulled my car in the bay and noticed that my engine light was on. He politely ask me how long has this light been on and I told him off and on for years... He did the dianostic test and found out why the light was on. To all women, we need guys who care and are honest about our cars. This particular location has shown me dedication time and time again. I decided to put tires and rims on my car with the help of Roy H. and his staff, my 1995 nissan sentra now looks like a 2004! They not only do all of my work on my car but my fathers as well. He is a retired machanic of 35 years for Western Auto (Willie McDaniel). He suffered a major MRI in 2001 and has not been able to work on cars like he use to. But can still tell you what is the problem and how to fix it. He also trust and highly recommends these guys at this location. The staff always make me feel apart of the family. I don't mind waiting four hours for my car if I had to because they know how to make their customers feel right at home and still take care of their business. My hat goes off to the owner Dale and his Service Manager Roy Hyatt. P.S. I know all about the public and how to treat customers. I learned today that customer service is NOT dead! It is alive and thriving at your Pecan Ave location in Charlotte, NC. I consulted by phone with Scott yesterday, brought my car in this morning and it was completed within hours and at the price that was quoted. I was promptly greeted at the door, paperwork was minimal, he explained what they would be doing, took my key and the next thing you know, my phone is ringing and it's Scott from Meineke letting me know that my car is ready. I have to tell everyone how wonderderful Pete and Steve were at the Meineke shop in Charlotte, NC on Independence Blvd. I originally brought my car to a shop that I can not name for a small leak and an inspection. The people at this place informed me that I needed front and rear brakes, a caliber and my lines flushed in order to pass inspection at a cost of $466+, plus the cost of the inspection. My husband who was in NY at the time informed me that no way I need brakes as he just checked them. "Shop around" he told me. I then told the boys at Meineke my story and brought my car there. They called me a few hours later and informed me my car was ready to be picked up, it was inspected and I owed them $30. The problem with my car was a loose caliber screw, which they informed my does not come loose on its own. I didn't need brakes and my car passed inspection. I praise Pete and Steve for their honesty and recommend Meineke and these great guys for all your car needs.

I want to praise my local shop, store #304, and specifically the owner Chris and mechanic John. On more than one occasion I have driven up with a problem, and they have checked it out promptly, and told me straightforward exactly what was happening, sometimes without even charging me if it turned out to be something minor. I have used that shop exclusively since Feb. 2002 and trust Chris implicitly with my precious and paid for vehicle, whether for routine maintenance like an oil change or something more serious like brake service. I was surprised last week when the "check engine" light on my car came on. The VW dealer checked the computer and confirmed that both catalytic converters were dying. He wanted $3500 for parts and installation on the replaement parts. After checking another VW dealer and getting a similar response, I checked the Internet for parts prices. Then I called Midas, and they said they did not service cats on VW's that new. Then I called Meineke, and Roy priced the job out at less than $500, had the parts in stock, and when I showed up at the shop an hour later, fixed the car in about an hour. I am very satisfied and will remember Meineke next time.

I Just wanted to say Thank you for the Excellent work you completed on my vehicle recently. I have had my car serviced at the shop several times. However, the service I received recently was great (work completed, customer service, and information). The manager was extremely informative and willing to explain what was wrong with my vehicle and provided me with (recommended services) a list of items that I need to have completed in the future. On July 15, 2003, I visited store # 1302 in Atlanta, GA. The store was operated by Mr.Mouzon. Let me tell you about my wonderful experience. I took my car in for brake service. I was greeted by a clean shop, clean employees, a courteous salesman and plus a clean restroom!
Upon my return to pick up my car, I found that I neglected to bring enough money in my wallet. The young lady at the counter asked her father to take me home to retrieve my funds. I live about 2.5 miles away. Mr. Mouzon took me home and back to the shop. They wanted my business. I will tell others.

I ran over a big pipe which fell off of a truck ahead of me while traveling thro' Ga. The noise I heard kept getting louder, until I knew I must stop to check it out. After getting off at the first available exit, I was directed by some very nice people to your dealership in Mc Donough. A pipe on the undercarriage had a severe gash in it, and your service man, was so kind and helpful. He welded it shut, and I was soon on my way.

I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated the wonderful service, and the kindness of the person who helped me. After driving several miles from TN to Daytona Florida, I realized I had a brake problem on my 2000 Mustang GT. The first day of my summer vacation wasn't going to be as I planned, or so I thought. After asking the hotel manger, who he recommended, he told me of the Meineke Car Care Center just a couple of blocks away. I got up early expecting to take the first day of my vacation doing things you take on vacation from. But that wasn't the case, after explaining the situation, the crew at Daytona Meineke had me taken care of in a couple of hours and I was on my way back to the sun and fun on the beach. "I just wanted to tell you about the outstanding experience I had with Meineke (shop 1700, Montgomery, AL). I needed exhaust system repairs and was impressed by the friendly, professional service I was given by Ira Stanford and his staff. I'm a single female and depend on the honesty of the automotive personnel that I'm dealing with. Ira was very thorough in showing me and explaining part by part just exactly what my vehicle needed. He could have very easily told me that I needed a new muffler too, but he didn't. Now, that really impressed me!! I arrived late in the day and the wholeoperation was very clean. The waiting room was immaculate. Because of the excellent service I received I will be a steady customer with Meineke. I will go there for oil changes also because he is open 'till 9PM and can have it done after work. "I just wanted to say that the Manager and Staff at Store #1660 are very professional and honest, I have not met with them yet but my wife has taken both of our vehicles in for service there and we were not taken for a ride with the prices.

I was given another price at a different store which was lower than what I was being charged at 1660 and the staff called the other store and gave me their price, they did not have to do that, due to it being a franchise but they did it and now they have our trust.

Most of the vehicle repairs I can do myself but for those that require a shop for repairs store #1660 gets the work."

"I just wanted you to know of the fantastic service I received from this shop (#880, Roanoke, Va). I needed a rotor, callipers,and hardware on the left side of my car. I was travelling through Roanoke on my way to see my daughter who is 5 mo. pregant and was having complications. The car kept getting worse so we stopped at the first place we saw which was a mall store and they wanted to take forever plus they put the car back in worse shape than when we drove it in there. I called this Meineke shop and they were willing to give me directions to the shop and stay open until the job was done. This is almost unheard of in this day and age!! To stay open until a job was done on a holiday weekend. They did an excellent job and saved me over 150.00. Way to Go Meineke!!!

"Bobby and the staff (at Meineke shop #1358 in Hickory, NC) were very helpful in fixing our van. We were on a trip to see my wife's sick grandmother and the CV joint went out on our van. I originally told Bobby that it was the opposite whell bearing, but he and the staff looked further and instead of replacing a good part, they found the real problem. They also worked very fast to see that we were back on the road as soon as possible. bobby also told us of an inexpensive hotel to stay overnight since we arrived too late in the day for them to work on our van, then he showed up early the next morning to get us in first. "Well, he's done it again. Mr Jerry Morton, owner of the Meineke automotive establishment on Route 610 (9 Dorothy Lane), proved once again that he is fair, honest, pleasant to deal with, and above all, highly qualified to do anything in the realm of automotive repair and service. My family has known Jerry for over 20 years, from his employment as the chief mechanic at a service station to his ownership of automotive operations up in Northern Virginia. Among my wife, 5 kids, and myself,
we always had 4-7 cars in the family. We used Jerry's talents for all our regular service, but when the time came to see him for our first repair problem, immediate panic set in. However, we came to realize that not only were car repairs non-threatening, with Jerry (and his highly capable staff) these experiences could be and were pleasant and stimulating happenings. Jerry's attitude, friendly persona, and extremely high technical capabilities enabled us to drive out of his shop knowing that we were treated honestly and capably. We had guarantees not only on paper but in our hearts and heads.

This may not seem like a big deal to some folks, but most of the driving public is in a fog when it comes to the clanks, screeches, and whining that emanate from under the hood or the car itself. Jerry is the kind of expert that when you drive in to his shop and say, "It was making a noise like gurgle, glump, gleep," he can usually understand and fix the problem, if not on the spot then after some study on his part.

A short time ago my son in Richmond took his car to an unnamed national chain of automotive service centers. Not only was the car worse off when he left, but the mechanic(?) broke some parts, took blame for his lack of knowledge, and then lied about it later when a complaint was made to the center owner. In addition, the charges for the poor work and broken parts came close to $600. The manager and the owner's attitudes were that there was nothing to talk about and there was nothing they would do for our complaints.

I convinced him to come up to Stafford (his busy work schedule and the distance involved precluded his seeing Jerry initially) to see our old friend and see if he could solve the problem. To make a long story short, Jerry not only fixed the problem and the broken parts, he said things like, "the compressor is not broken,'. even though the words of the firm in Richmond were "the compressor is broken." Several hours later, the cost of making everything right was less than a third of the charge
from the Richmond place.

The Meineke Customer Service Department received the following letter from Staff Sgt. Robert Kaufman in regards to the excellent service he and his wife received at Meineke shop # 1436 in Miami, FL:

"My Wife and I had begun our trip back home to West Palm Beach after a vacation in the Keys. We were on the turnpike and we burnt out the bearings on our boat trailer. Needless to say, we were in a bind. A 25ft boat with a bad bearing. We didn't know what to do, being that it was late Saturday and nothing would be open Sunday.

We decided to try and limp it into town to try and find help. We pulled into the parking lot of your establishment and saw your guys getting ready to close up shop. I approached your manager, Alex, and asked him if he could help us. He not only helped us out, but he asked a couple of his guys, Richard and Miguel, if they could come in on Sunday (their day off) and give him a hand. He also let us park the boat and trailer in the bay overnight for safe keeping.

The guys Richard and Miguel came in the next morning and worked on fixing the problems. With their ingenuity and their ability to adapt and adjust, they were able to repair the problems. This is something you don't see much of anymore in today's society. These guys did not have to come in and help us and also this is not your business area of expertise, but they took care of our problem so we could get home.

I want to commend the guys at Meineke # 1436 for their efforts, and again say thanks for going above and beyond the call of duty. I'd go to battle with these guys any day."

"Last month, I had my pickup inspected at a local service station. I was told I needed a new muffler. I then took it to Meineke. One of your technicians explained "weep holes" to me. The owner of the local service station was visibly upset that I went to the Meineke shop, ready to buy a new muffler and was told I do not need one. I later learned that he is the type who would have sold me something I did not need. So, last week when my wife was concerned about her brakes, I naturally took them to someone I trusted, the Meineke store on Raeford road. They explained to my wife that the problem was cold, condensation, and dust on the brakes. Apparently, they cured the noise in her door too, without mentioning it. All this, both visits, were at no charge. Both times I was ready to spend money and both times I was not charged one red cent. It would have been very easy for them to charge me. I can not tell you how much I appreciate the honesty and professionalism of all these young men. It is such a pleasure to write you about how well I was treated here. "I know that usually your office revieces emails/correspondence of conplaints (being in the customer service-accounting field myself) it is common to always expect the worst. However, I am please to say, that on the contray this email is totally the opposite. I just wanted to take the time to share with you, that I had my car towed to your Meineke location at 6447-a East Independence Blvd (this not being the first time, I have had my car serviced there on other occassions), but this one particular time was really special to me. My car stopped on me the morning of Dec. 28th only during my attempt to make it to your location for service on my car. To my dismay, my car did not make it. I had to contact AAA to tow my car not even a block to your location. The manager of that location (Chris, I do not have his last name) has always provided me with EXCELLENT customer service, he is always willing to help, always pleasant and very understanding. The type of service you expect but usually never receive. Chris, actually made, what started out as a bad day, turn into something pleasant. I wanted to share that with your corporate office, because this is just the type of customer service this world needs, and Chris is a perfect illustration of that. "I recently had some work performed at your Meineke Discount Muffler Shop in Elsemere, DE. I would like to bring to your attention the outstanding service that I was given there. I recently had a new set of catalytic converters installed at another local shop. After the other shop completed the job, I had some pretty bad exhaust leaks on my way home. I checked the car out and found that they had botched the job bad. I then stopped at your shop and Mr. Frank Anderson looked at my car to see what was going on. He explained that the other shop had tried to spot-weld together my rear flanges without much success. They had even destroyed the flanges by welding to them, so the only option was to cut the bad sections out and replace them with a custom piece of pipe. It was a little late in the evening when I stopped by and Mr. Anderson explained that it would take more time than he had that day because the shop was closing soon. I made arrangements to bring the car back in a few days in the morning and in little more than an hour, Mr. Anderson along with a helper also named Frank, fixed everything. I was very impressed with his professionalism and the thorough job he did by checking everything out and running the car on the lift to make sure everything was OK. Mr. Anderson is indeed an asset to your organization and I believe he should be recognized. This Meineke shop will be first on my list for any of the services that are provided there and I will highly recommend them to others."

"You need to change your TV commercial with George Foreman. Why? You overlook a great opportunity to increase your revenues at least 50% for car owners like myself.
After the muffler fell off my '79 Nissan/Datsun and calling around to other places with no success to get it repaired, I stopped in Meineke here in Woodbridge. Much to my surprise, Bill Hall told me that they could custom bend the part right on the premises and it would be completed in two hours at a reasonable charge.
I was elated about hearing this and told them to call me when it was done.
Bill Hall called within two hours and told me my car was ready. He and his staff are to be commended on their professionalism as very few businesses make customers really want to come back again. Yes, Meineke Discount Mufflers, Store #617 did and now you know you must get the word "out" about your "customized" service. If I did not know about it until I stepped in, think about those who have an older car who think there is no place to have it repaired and sent it to the junkyard. I really appreciate being able to continue to drive my '79 Datsun thanks to Bill Hall and his staff."

"I recently had an experience at a car repair/maintenance/lube shop that I have never heard of before. I walked into Mr. Brian Champagne's business at about 9:30 AM on a Thursday. I needed an oil change, or so I thought. It turns out that I also needed new breaks on the front end. I had class at LSU, which is about 5 miles from the shop, at 10:30. Mr. Champagne made a generous offer to bring me to class and have someone pick me up from class because I would be out of a vehicle. I told him this was unnecessary, and he changed my oil, left my ticket open, and allowed me to return 5 hours later for the break job. I returned at about 3:30 PM and it took Mr. Champagne's employees about an hour to fix my truck.
During this hour I witnessed Mr. Champagne give deals/specials/price reductions to several customers. I witnessed him offer to go take a ride with customers who could not explain the problems with their cars. I even witnessed him personally reattach a lady's bumper (which took about 20 minutes) for absolutely nothing.
He discussed my major and career plans with me. He even gave me suggestions on where to go with my career plans if I was interested in Marketing and management. Meineke is very fortunate to have a man like Mr. Champagne on its staff. He is truly an ambassador for the company because he is honest, generous, and willing to work with anyone. I witnessed him create several new Meineke customers while I was there, and you can bet that he made a Meineke customer out of me. Please reward this great businessman in any way possible. He is very deserving."
