I found the service at (the Boulder. CO) Meineke exceptionally good. I needed a new master cylinder. The manager listened to what I had to say and the staff fixed the problem. They did not try to sell me anything I did not want. This is important to me when I am dealing with auto repair. I had just taken the car out of another garage because 1) it took them two days longer to look at the car than they had originally told me, 2) when they did look at the car, and I called to find out the problem , they ran down a laundry list of things that could be improved on the car, only one of which was related to the symptom I had described, and 3) they wanted to charge me a full $100 more than what Meineke charged me for the same job. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm in the auto repair industry today. It is good to see that for brakes and exhaust, I can count on my local Meineke dealer to treat me fairly.

The reason I am writing is to express my gratitude towards the honest service that I received in an industry that is unfortunately riddled with thieves (in my opinion). From my experience, the Boulder shop is a model of what is to be done to right this industry. They offered:

Timely service
An honest assessment of the problem. The car I had in is 28 years old. I know it was not in perfect condition, but the problem I had (leaky brake fluid system, causing car to not stop) was not related to 95% of the things that the other shop told me were wrong. Furthermore, had I not known (albeit minimally) anything about how a car works, I may have been misled by that other shop to believe that a calcified radiator, leaky valve gasket, unbalanced tires, etc., had anything to do with a car that would not stop when you pressed on the brake pedal.

Reasonable price

• Competent technicians (this is actually the second time I had been to the shop and both jobs were done competently)
• Respectful service (the manager was very nice)
